Scary Fact: I find this horrible that the lifespan of the average person was only about 30 years. People of today's society should be very thankful for the technological advances made by scientists. At one point if you had a disease like HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C there was not much that could be done to help you, but due to the advances, sciences and technology, your lifespan can be increased significantly and your health will be better compared to 50 years ago. It is also very surprising that most children lived barely to fifteen. If one looks at any play of Shakespeare, one would find that they are very intense. They show the deepest of a person's emotions, love, hate, betrayal, etc.. Living in a time like Shakespeare's, where the lifespan was so short, it would be very wise to appreciate life which is how I think this fact affected his writing.
Ironic fact: Women were allowed to inherit land, make a will and sign a contract without a male proxy or guardian. The part that I find ironic is that once a woman is married, all these rights were taken away from her. One would think that after a woman/ person is married that they would become more mature and maybe be able to make better choices. Although, at that time women were given more liberations than women in many parts of the world, and unfortunately still today in parts of the world, I don't think that their right should have been revoked once they were married. The people who formed these rules were hypocritical because their ruler was a woman.
Funny Fact: I thought that it was amusing that the London plague regulations, of 1583, stated that funerals should be banned. How were you to say farewell to a loved one properly without a funeral? Especially with such a short lifespan.
